# Operations

# Select map

  • Select the map you want to display from the list of maps on the left side of the screen.

Additional information

  • Some maps have settings to further adjust the information shown. For details, please click the and refer to the descriptions.
  • If the list of maps is not shown on the screen, click the on the upper left side of the screen.
  • You can hide the list of maps by clicking the .
  • To clear your map selection, click Clear selection below.

# Pan across the map

  • Click and hold the mouse on the map and move (drag / swipe) it to a new location.
  • Press the arrow keys ( ) on your keyboard.

# Zoom in or zoom out of the map

  • Scroll the mouse wheel on the map.
  • Click the + / - buttons on the map.
  • Press the + / - keys on your keyboard.
  • If touch controls are enabled, press two fingers on the map and move your fingers toward or apart from each other (pinch-to-zoom).

# Rotate the map

  • While holding the CTRL key, click and hold the mouse on the map and move (drag) it to a new location.
  • If touch controls are enabled, press two fingers on the map and rotate one finger around the axis of the other.

Additional information

  • will be displayed on the map while the map is rotated.
  • Press the to reset the map to its default orientation.

# Search for a location using its place name

  1. Click the on the upper portion of the screen.
  2. Enter a place name into the search bar and select the location you want to display from the suggestions.

Additional information

  • Click the to clear content entered in the search bar.
  • Click the to hide the search bar.

# See location information

  1. Right-click the map and select Specify location from the pop-up tool menu.
  2. Click the location whose information you want to see on the map.
  3. Refer to the information panel that is displayed.

# Display or track your current location

  • Click the button on the map.
  • Choose Select to display information about your current location.
  • Choose Track to periodically update your current location. If you have an orientation sensor, the map will rotate so that the upper portion of the screen aligns with the direction your device is facing.

Please note

  • Depending on your browser, you may be asked to allow the application to obtain your location information.
  • This feature can only be used on GPS-enabled devices.

# Measure distance

  1. Click the button on the map, or right-click the map and select Measure distance from the pop-up tool menu.
  2. From the measurement panel, click either the Straight line distance or the Route distance button.
  3. Click a location on the map to serve as your starting point for measuring distance.
  4. Click locations on the map to serve as interim points and the end point for measuring distance.
  5. Refer to the distance and travel time on foot displayed in the measurement panel.

Additional information

  • You can move the starting and end points on the map.
  • If you move the mouse above a point along the route, the cursor will switch to a . Click the map when this cursor is displayed to add an interim point.
  • Click on a starting point, interim point, or end point to delete it. If you click the Delete button, all points will be reset.
  • Click the button to exit measurement mode.
  • The travel time is calculated based on the walking speed set in the Settings.

# Display a cross-section (elevation) map

  1. Click the button on the map, or right-click the map and select Measure distance from the pop-up tool menu.
  2. From the measurement panel, click either the Straight line distance or the Route distance button.
  3. Click a location on the map to serve as the starting point of the cross-section map.
  4. Click locations on the map to serve as interim points and the end point of the cross-section map.
  5. Click the Terrain button on the right side of the measurement panel.
  6. Refer to the cross-section map displayed in the measurement panel.

Additional information

  • You can move the starting and end points on the map.
  • If you move the mouse above a point along the route, the cursor will switch to a . Click the map when this cursor is displayed to add an interim point.
  • If you move your cursor across the cross-section map, a dot will be displayed on the corresponding point on the map.
  • Click the button to exit measurement mode.

# Background and other settings

Click the button on the map to display a menu that allows you to change the map background and other settings.

# Background

Road map
Display a map that emphasizes roads in the background.
Satellite
Display satellite images in the background.
Terrain
Display a topographic map that uses different colors to indicate changes in elevation in the background.

# Show or hide elements

Switch between showing or hiding elements on the map.

# Show information when selected

Switch between showing or hiding detailed information about a location when it is selected on the map.

# Hazard map

Display in foreground
Display the hazard map indicating inundation zones and other information in the foreground.
Transparency
Adjust the transparency (opacity) of the hazard map indicating inundation zones and other information.

# Elevation

Elevation colors and thresholds
Customize the elevation colors and thresholds.
Reset
Reset the elevation colors and thresholds to their default.
Shading strength
Adjust the shading strength.
Gradation
Interpolate the elevation colors to display it in the form of a color gradient.

Note

Elevation is only shown when a topographic map is displayed in the background.

  1. From the menu on the upper right side of the screen, select Print....
  2. Select the size of paper you will print on.
  3. Click the Print button to display your browser’s print dialogue box.

Additional information

  • Confirm that your print settings show the paper in your designated size in the landscape orientation.
  • You can adjust the printing range by moving the map on the main screen.

Please note

# Export the map to PDF

  1. From the menu on the upper right side of the screen, select Export to PDF… .
  2. Set the title, size, orientation, and margins of the exported PDF file.
  3. Click the Export button to download the map on display as a PDF file.

Please note

  • This function cannot be used on browsers that allow you to Print the map and certain other browsers.

# Export the map as an image

  1. From the menu on the upper right side of the screen, select Export image….
  2. Select the size of the image and click the Export button to download the map as a PNG file.
  1. From the menu on the upper right side of the screen, select Share link.
  2. The share link (URL) will be displayed.

Additional information

  • Click Copy to copy the share link (URL) to your clipboard.
  • Click QR Code to generate a QR Code that contains the share link (URL).
